About Your Unfiltered Besty
You didn't disappear.
You've been really fucking busy.
Somewhere along the way, “whatever” became good enough for me. Whatever was quickest to eat. Whatever I had energy for. Whatever was left after everyone else got what they needed. Maybe you know the feeling.
Nothing had to be technically falling apart for me to feel like I'd lost touch with myself. I loved my people. I was grateful for my life. And I was also tired of feeling like a fucking afterthought in it.
I didn't need a new personality, a punishing routine, or a 17-step plan. I missed the woman who had opinions, bought things because she liked them, got dressed because she wanted to look hot, and could catch herself in the mirror and think, “Damn. Okay.”
The problem wasn't motherhood, aging, my body, or a lack of discipline. The problem was how normal it had become to put myself last.
So I started paying attention—not in a wake-up-at-4-AM-and-plunge-into-an-ice-bath kind of way. More like a slightly obsessive woman with internet access, a label-reading problem, and approximately 37 browser tabs open.
I started with what was already happening: coffee, breakfast, water, my shower, skincare, getting dressed. I looked for small upgrades that made life feel better—not like more work. Then, because apparently I can't just buy a product anymore, I went down the research rabbit hole: ingredients, formulations, sourcing, standards, and whether something actually earned its place in my routine.
That's where Simple Switches came from.
Don't add more to your life. Make what's already there work harder for you. A better coffee. A skincare ritual you actually want to do. An actual lunch. A walk. A boundary. Five uninterrupted minutes. The good stuff is allowed to be practical, pleasurable, and worth it.
This is not about turning self-love into a shopping cart, either. Sometimes care costs nothing. Sometimes it's a beautiful moisturizer, a haircut, or the coffee you genuinely love. The point is to stop automatically deciding you deserve less.
And then I became that friend.
You know the one—the friend you text from the middle of Target: “Besty… is this actually good or is TikTok lying to me?” Hi. It's me. I'm the one flipping the bottle over to read the ingredient list, Googling the ingredient I can't pronounce, and asking what “clinically proven” is actually proven to do.
That's basically how Your Unfiltered Besty happened. I wanted a place where we could talk about beauty, wellness, confidence, food, supplements, routines, and feeling good in our bodies—without pretending there's one perfect way to do any of it.
No wellness Olympics. No fearmongering. No pretending one powder changed my entire life. Just real-life care that earns its place.
Look good. Feel good. Feel like you again.
Think of this site as the group chat for women who are done treating themselves like leftovers. You'll find the things I'm researching, trying, and continuing to use—and occasionally the thing everyone is obsessed with that makes me go, “Besty. No.”
I genuinely love some of the products you'll see here. Some links are affiliate links, which means I may earn a commission if you decide to buy something. But you don't need everything I use, and I'm not here to convince you that my routine needs to become your routine.
I'm here to do some of the homework for you: why something caught my attention, what's in it, what the research says, why I'm obsessed (or not), and whether I think it's worth earning a spot in your routine. Then you decide. As you should.
Consider me your slightly obsessive besty in the group chat—the one who reads the labels, buys herself the damn coffee, and goes down the research rabbit hole so you don't have to.
You deserve to feel good. Not perfect. Not twenty-two again. Not like somebody else's before-and-after photo. Just more like you: cared for, confident, comfortable, and here. There she is. 🤎
